Gallatin Child Care Center

Making a difference in Sumner County for more than 30 years.

Glenda Abel started her career in child care more than 30 years ago in 1991.

In 2006, Glenda opened Gallatin Child Care Center, a nonprofit child care program. From the beginning, her community has supported and believed in her program’s vision to give every child the opportunities they need to grow and learn.

Over her long career, she has continued to deepen and grow her knowledge about early childhood education through professional development opportunities. Glenda has completed her Administrative TECTA and Tennessee Early Childhood Program Administrator Credential (TECPAC), along with her CDA Credential, and is only two credits short of her Associate’s Degree.

Glenda also looks for opportunities to help other child care providers in her community. She started the Sumner County Director’s Group, which provides valuable resources and much-needed camaraderie to child care programs in the area.

“It truly does take a village to raise a child,” says Glenda. “And I’m thankful I can be a part of making a difference in family’s lives.”

“I still feel I have the best job in the world.”

Thank you for everything you do in your community, Glenda!
